Marlene Ruiz's husband just finished his therapy, & had a cancer free check up recently.
Rocio Santana has finished her nurse externship at Sharp Grossmont.
She will finish her RN studies from SD City College in May.
Sylvia Macmanus is on the board of the newly formed No. County MANA as secretary. She is also going to co-present
a cancer discussion on the "Talk Doc" program.
Sarah Babini completed her MSN frm USD in December. She started teaching part time at SD City College.
Lisa Duncan, RN, informed us that Family Health Center recently opened it's Chula Vista site. It is currently open
20 hr/week, with plans to expand its hours soon.
Marisol Ballistreri and her family have a new dog, "Cabo." He is a cockapoo who is very well behaved. She
continues her work in the MSN/FNP prgogram at USD.
Melanie Phipps-Morgan recently attended the Western Institute of Nursing conference in Salt Lake City, and presented
a poster on a conceptual analysis of "Awareness Healing." In February, she attended the AACN Faculty Development in
Savannah, GA. She also has a new Ibizan Hound puppy, Ramona, who is very lively.
Monica Garcia organized a blood drive at her work site, Pepsi Bottling Co. Over 50 people donated blood t the local
blood bank.
Cristina Guzman recently won her workplace "biggest loser" competition by loosing 12 lbs--congrats!! She continues her
BSN studies at CSU, Dominguez Hills.
Alexia Hollis, LVN was accepted into the SD City College LVN to RN program. She will be an RN in 2010!!!!!!
Felipe Gutierrez was invited to speak at Partick Henry HS to discuss his role as an advance practice nurse.
Lydia Stewart & Yolanda Arroyo continue to participate in the 1000 Smiles trips to Ensenada, Mexico. We are proud
of them for spreading the volunteer spirit across the border.
Corina Manzo was accepted into SDSU's RN to BSN program--way to go!!

Iris Rosario was nominated for the "Spirit of Caring Award" at Sharp Chula Vista. She has also been nominated as
Nurse of the Year for her hospital.
Gloria Vasquez has just earned her Associate's degree in Liberal Studies at Southwestern College. She also recieved a
Spanish proficiency certificate.
Gloria Barba has befun her studies in the adult NP program at SDSU.
Hellen Pallares graduated from Metropolitan University in Minneapolis in would, ostomy, and continence program in passed
all 3 specialty certification exams.
